Committees

MAKING A DIFFERENCE—Taking a Leadership Role

The South Hills Chamber of Commerce takes committee membership seriously.  Civic events and sponsorships spotlight the special interests that we advocate within the chamber—it provides businesses and individuals who participate on committees to help organize, execute events/ programs and to promote and build business relationships.

The following are committees in the chamber that you can join:

 

The Government Affairs Committee

This Committee monitors and tracks legislation and government-related issues on the municipal, county, state, and federal levels. To provide education and training about congressional processes, organization, and practices. The committee makes formal recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding positions the Chamber should adopt in regard to various issues. Once recommendations are adopted, the committee assists the Chamber in promoting its positions. The specific areas of interest are: Taxes, Health Care, Lawsuit Abuse, Labor, Energy/Environmental Markets, Education, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Responsible State Spending.  If interested, contact The South Hills Chamber.

Program Committee
The Program Committee meets two times a year to determine the chamber’s events.  Meetings are in June and November. If interested, contact The South Hills Chamber.

Membership Committee
Membership Committee develops and implements the yearly membership campaign.  This committee meets twice a year for planning and evaluation.  If interested, contact The South Hills Chamber.

Ambassador Committee
This group acts as our ambassadors at our events.  They are the “welcome committee”
keeping in touch with our member clients.   If interested, contact The South Hills Chamber.

South Hills Business Executive Professionals Roundtable
This is a new group for 2013.  It will be comprised of women in leadership roles who have a revenue of at least 3 million and staffing.  This group will represent the South Hills and participate in mentoring our newer entrepreneurs.  They will meet on a quarterly basis.  If interested or know of someone who would be a candidate for this group, contact the chamber. Women Business Professionals  (Women’s of Influence Circle)
This is a new group formed for the purpose of networking, educating and partnering with our roundtable.  If interested, contact The South Hills Chamber.

Newsletter Committee
This committee will develop the newsletter content on a quarterly basis.  If interested, contact The South Hills Chamber.

Community Liaisons
This role would be to act as a liaison between the chamber, the community and schools.
